Here we have a beautiful late 1800s Victorian Mourning Gown. This black lace gown is a one of a kind historical museum piece, deaccessioned by the Valentine Museum, in Richmond Va. It has hand bobbin lace on the neckline and sleeve cuffs. Beautiful rose embroidered appliqué throughout and the hem has three layers of knife pleated trim in silk taffeta, silk gauze and silk organza. It is fully lined and in great condition with minor damage (see pics). Some of the hem trim lace edging has come off but can easily be hand sewn back on. All in all this is a lovely museum example for the period…

Condition: Overall good condition, with some minor wear and a few tears to knife pleated hem and breakage on overlay of lace. See  pics for full disclosure.

Bodice Closure Options: Because our vintage gowns go through an extensive restoration process, most buttons must be removed before hand. This allows our brides the opportunity to select their preferred back closure. If able to be cleaned we can either restore the gowns original satin buttons or choose from our silk bridal, freshwater pearl, crystal, silk ribbon embroidered buttons; a mesh zipper, or our corset inserts.
